Apparently, the tapes or whatever media that was being delivered to the TV stations for the first of the new series' of Doctor Who, was code-named Torchwood because it was an anagram.

I felt a bit of a dill as well.

Re: Ep 191: James Talia, Torchwood, Hosts of things

Any chance you guys will be reviewing Go Girls...starts tonight on TEN at 10pm

Re: Ep 191: James Talia, Torchwood, Hosts of things

ys ago
Deposed Nigerian Royal Family Member says what?

Am I the only one who's noticed that spam has become shockingly unoriginal? I haven't got an email from a good Christian widow in.. .months.
Re: Torchwood, it is quite sad that I didn't realize it was an anagram until now. I feel so intelligent. Also, I saw some of the first series (I think) by mistake, and I felt sullied by the experience. Now I think I might give Children of Earth a try, if I can find it- it probably plays at 3:37 am on a Tuesday.

Re: Ep 191: James Talia, Torchwood, Hosts of things

re: host of Masterchef - By the time I noticed there was a host, I was convinced she was actually the world's most realistic looking robot.

Re: Ep 191: James Talia, Torchwood, Hosts of things

Haven't finished the podcast yet, but I thought I'd let you know what the Today show no longer screens in NZ (the last day was ANZAC Day last year...chose to end it on a day when we commemmorate the uniting of Aus/NZ forces...go figure).

I miss seeing our boy Dickie Wilkins in the mornings.

no, not really.

Re: Ep 191: James Talia, Torchwood, Hosts of things

I am going to look at Warehouse 13 if only because I've heard all the science is accurate (and that's a rarity). Sometimes the Mai-Tai network produce good work but I have to say I was originally sceptical about another X-Files cc.

Re: Ep 191: James Talia, Torchwood, Hosts of things

Dude, we're discussing Torchwood here. It just never thrilled me. Characters seemed dull, acting seemed wooden, everything was just forced. I don't know why I then decided to watch the third series, but I'm glad I did. And I think John's comment about people watching it without seeing the earlier seasons is valid. All you needed to know is Captain Jack is indestructible, everything else you just sorta accepted as it happened.

I guess because I had no vested interest in the characters meant I didn't miss them when they weren't there, which was a lot of the time. The characters that ran the rest of the show was compelling enough to carry it.

Sure, the final solution was a bit rushed, but the revelation of the 456 and what they need the kids for was handled really well.

Problem is: I just don't expect Torchwood to keep up with level of quality.

I've seen both ends of the spectrum, and I think even if it reaches a middle ground, I'm gonna be disappointed.

Re: Ep 191: James Talia, Torchwood, Hosts of things

In relation to your segment on reality tv hosts, I thought this article on news.com.au was rather funny (well the 3 or 4 lines that have Sarah talking): http://blogs.news.com.au/da...

Also, just wondering if you had plans to chat about the new siphfi (sorry, SyFy) show, Warehouse 13?

Re: Ep 191: James Talia, Torchwood, Hosts of things

No!
