How about 90 mins fellas, Muahaha :P

    Downloading as I type...

62 semi-solid minutes... sounds like an hour-long chubby...

Just to follow up on the Superbowl stuff, SBS's replay tonight was just a highlights show - Billy Joel got in there (mangling the anthem) but I didn't see any half-time show. You'd think, if they were going to stick it in the 11pm slot, they'd go in for the pound and play the whole thing.

It was lovely, though, the thanks to the almighty by the coach... now where did I put those other episodes of Friday Night Lights...?

That person being interviewed on the APIA ads is Jamie Redfern from "Jamie Redfern's SuperKids" a community TV show. He was a child star in the 60's.

Wasn't Jamie Redfern on Young Talent Time?
  • catbrain · 2 years ago
He certainly was, Brett, and he can be seen on Aurora Television (pay tv) in his own version of YTT called Jamie Redfern's Superkids. I think it also screened on Channel 31 for a while.

Wasn't Jamie Redfern the one who got whisked away to the US by Liberace in the 70s? He was a big deal at the time.

    See. Longer is better.

Jamie Redfern's Superkids claims to be the biggest-rating program on Aurora. Perhaps Aurora has a direct feed into supported accommodation, which would go some way to explaining why Jamie Redfern is in the APIA ads.

Have you ever seen an insurance ad or a late show where young people are driving around really fast? I can't imagine an insurance company wanting to attract that kind of customer in the first place.

I also found the Pepsi ad you were talking about: in a parallel universe, Ronaldinho is gay. *grin*

That Pepsi ad's interesting - I'd seen it vaguely as I was fast forwarding but hadn't engaged with it.

The ball tricks one had very obvious edits with someone walking in front of the camera when they had to re-take. One of the comments on the YouTube page claimed it was CGI but I don't think they'd have bothered with the edits if it wasn't real.

I don't understand the bottom right story. Is that another footballer that's getting mobbed before getting in the limo? And why wasn't anyone mobbing Ronaldinho?

The walking sync/edits are nicely done - I haven't been able to spot the switch over, though it may have something to do with the poles he's walking behind...

Is Ronaldinho in it? See, I can't concentrate past the first square.

That is why I asked Josh what he thought as a Pepsi drinker. As a Pepsi hater, I switch off straight away. Could be the best ad in the world, but straight away my mind says "Stupid Pepsi".

Thanks for finding the ad Catbrain.

As far as Jamie Redfern goes - I still don't buy the old people insurance ad. OK, so he crashes into someone who knows him - maybe, but that person also wants tickets to his show - unlikely. And the guy missed out because the shows were sold out - impossible.

Boy someone at Pepsi should be giving some royalties to Tommy Tinker for that one (Tommy Tinker being the director of Run Lola Run)
